On the Gold Coast |
A glorious, warm, sunny day all day! After breakfast and a walk on the beach, it was time to drop Pattie and Pam back at the bus/train stations. We all left around 10:00 as Pattie was catching the 11am bus. After dropping her off at the bus station, I took a wrong turn on the way to Robina station. After consulting maps yet again, we decided it was now easier to drop Pam at Narang station.
On the way back from Narang, we saw signs for the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens. We parked by the side of the road, consulting maps, and a very kind gentleman asked if we need assistance.
We found the gardens, which were lovely. After walking around for a while, we had coffee and cake on the balcony of the cafe, with very light jazz coming from the 'Music in the Park' event just across the lake. We then walked back to a seat by the lake and had a sausage sizzle for lunch, just sitting on the bench enjoying the sunshine. We hadn't really planned on doing any of this and hadn't bought drinks with us. When they saw Mum drinking from a bubbler, some very kind people gave us water in plastic cups.
Mid afternoon, we wended our way back towards the coast and the Cascade Gardens. We drove through the gardens and then stopped at the Korean War Memorial before continuing on up to Surfers, past Sea World and up to the end of The Spit. After stopping to buy drinks at a cafe on The Spit, we drove back to the apartment along Surfers' Main Beach and Broadbeach.
I had a walk along Miami Beach in the evening and we had ham, cheese and tomato on Ryvitas for dinner.
